ACORRUPT company director funded an extravagant life by using investors' cash, a court heard.
John Potts was one of five directors at North East-based Practical Property Portfolios who duped clients out of millions of pounds through its buy-to-let property scheme.
Potts, said to have ruled the now defunct business by a combination of "bullying and generosity", was the greatest beneficiary of the scam, Newcastle Crown Court was told.
His indulgent spending included buying the distinctive red 1960 Mk1 Jaguar saloon used in the Inspector Morse television series for pounds 53,000 at auction.
He also used client funds to buy a Range Rover for more than pounds 50,000 and PPP paid for his passion for horse-racing - buying, keeping and racing horses to the tune of pounds 250,000.
