A public meeting about the future of a city suburb community centre was more of a 'hard sell' for the council's preferred option than a consultation, a councillor claimed last night.
Residents met to discuss the future of Beacon Community Centre at Bucksburn, which Aberdeen City Council has earmarked to be included in a new sports trust with other city sports facilities.
It was designed to give the public a chance to hear about the trust but also to discuss other options.
Bucksburn councillor Barney Crockett said it seemed council officials had already made their mind up and were only interested in pushing the trust option, however.
He said many local residents felt the decision had already been made and did not go to the meeting as a result. About 40 people attended.
