A campaign for safety improvements at an accident blackspot on a north-east trunk road has been stepped up.
The Scottish Parliament public petitions committee is seeking further information from the government and Grampian Police into the A90 junction at Laurencekirk.
The committee is investigating the issue after campaigner Jill Campbell, of Hillside, presented a list of 8,000 signatures calling for a flyover at the junction.
West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine MSP Mike Rumbles emphasised to the petitions group the number of accidents at the spot in recent years at a meeting at Fraserburgh on Monday.
He has expressed concerns over Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson's claims that there have only been two slight injury accidents at the junction since October 2005.
