GLOBAL Maritime Ventures Bhd (GMV), a subsidiary of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd, expects to stay profitable in 2009, helped by the performance of the tanker and offshore supply vessel (OSV) sectors, and new tonnage.

GMV will receive nine new vessels this year.

The company has registered an average net profit after tax of RM 178.5 million a year between 2000 and 2008, allowing the company to declare regular dividends to its shareholders.

So far, GMV has nine strategic joint venture partners with investment portfolios totalling 31 vessels (541,258 dead weight tonne) comprising chemical/product tankers (7,000-45,000 …
