Bill for stronger food regulator rushed.

A bill seeking to strengthen the regulatory powers of the food and drugs regulator would be fast-tracked when Congress resumes session mid- April, legislators said.
A bicameral committee has been convened to reconcile House Bill (HB) 3293 and Senate Bill 2645 or the proposed Food and Drugs Administration Act that would reorganize the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD).
The House passed its version on May 12, 2008 while the Senate approved its version on third and final reading on Nov. 10, 2008.
