Some organic advocates are having second thoughts about USDA's proposed rule on pasture access for organic dairy cows, including provisions covering beef cattle.

USDA proposed its rule in October with a comment period that ended Dec. 23 (see FTR November, Page 8). Joan Shaffer, spokeswoman for the National Organic Program in USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service, told Food Traceability Report that AMS is currently reviewing more than 5,000 comments on the proposal.
