Last week marked the 17th anniversary of the passage of the Magna Carta for Persons with Disabilities. Through the years, the Magna Carta has provided disabled individuals with opportunities that allow their integration into the mainstream of community life.

On employment, more and more persons with disabilities are now being considered to work in an open employment scheme and are being provided various forms of livelihood assistance and entrepreneurship training to launch them as part of the countrys workforce.

On education, qualified students with disabilities are being provided scholarship programs especially at the college level. Concerned government and …
