Mar. 30--POMPANO BEACH -- Helen Louise Plager had a big complaint for the City Commission.
"As a grandmother of five, I've listened to, 'Granny, there is no place to do anything,'" Plager told city officials. "And before they are all too old to play, I'd like an opportunity to offer what has been lacking all these years."
Plager and the approximately 15,000 residents of Palm Aire, south of Atlantic Boulevard and west of Powerline Road, will get a new park, perhaps with tennis courts, tot lots and basketball courts. The city is spending $750,000 to buy 5 acres of tennis courts destroyed by Hurricane Wilma in 2005.
