The claim. Nasal Ease is a "100% natural allergy blocker" that forms a barrier to "stop indoor/outdoor allergies before they start!" You spray this combo of cellulose vegetable powder and peppermint powder up your nose as often as every 3 hours. According to the manufacturer, it forms a coating that keeps allergen particles from reaching the nasal passages. It's sold online and at some drugstores and Walmarts, and costs about $12 for a 500-milligram bottle, which provides about 200 sprays per nostril. It is new to the U.S. but has been sold in the U.K., as Nasaleze, for more than a decade.
The check. We reviewed the evidence on Nasal Ease, available on the product's Web site (at www.nasaleaseblocker.com), and ran the product and the studies by our medical consultants and two board-certified allergists.
