The Cabinet yesterday

The Cabinet yesterday approved a draft framework that would allow the government to seek foreign loans worth US$2 billion (about Bt72 billion).

The framework will be submitted to Parliament for approval before the government can seek the foreign loans.

It also approved an increase in the public-debt amount for fiscal 2009, from Bt1.19 trillion to Bt1.31 trillion. The maximum amount remains capped at Bt1.4 trillion.

The Cabinet agreed to increase the budget for the Red Line mass-transit route from Bt59.88 billion to Bt65.14 billion.
