AS of AutoWeek's March 2 deadline, sources said that the former Honda Formula One team is set to be renamed Brawn Sport, and driver Jenson Button could shake down the car in England in the coming weeks.
Little firm news has come from the team's Britain base in recent weeks. Richard Branson, the billionaire owner of the Virgin Group, emerged as a potential buyer, but his interest waned. F1 commercial boss Bernie Eccle-stone indicated that he had offered to get involved but that Honda rejected his overtures. Meanwhile, the team has adapted the new car to accommodate a Mercedes-Benz V8.
Honda bosses in Japan apparently have accepted the Ross Brawn/ Nick Fry-led management buyout deal. Three other company directors, thought to include financial director Nigel Kerr, also are involved.
