Over the past fifteen years, women in Latin America have struggled to counter the negative repercussions of economic crisis and retrenchment of the nation-state. The essays in this edited volume explore the myriad ways women have organized throughout the region to protect (for themselves, their families, and their communities) endangered livelihoods and citizenship rights. This book contributes to a growing literature on these critical issues in studies of Latin America, global restructuring, and gender.
