General Motors has announced that it is to slash its marketing spend in North America by around dollars 800 million in 2009 alone.
The figure, which includes vehicle incentives, is an increase on the sum quoted by the company in December last year, when it said that it had planned to cut dollars 600 million of its ad budget by 2012.
The statement came as General Motors announced that it will reduce its structural costs to dollars 26.3 billion by the end of 2009.
