This volume has been produced to mark John Rogerson's retirement from his chair at Sheffield, and is edited by two of his colleagues and one of his former students. Fittingly, in view of Professor Rogerson's lifelong preoccupations, it takes as its theme the role of the Bible in human society, and the majority of the essays are concerned with the interpretation of the Bible in particular communities of interpretation. Most of the essays are in English, but there are two in German.
