Tax officials are setting their sights on professionals and other self-employed persons as the government struggles to cope with a revenue deficit.
Sommai Phasee, a former deputy finance minister, yesterday warned that tax collections will likely miss the target by at least 15 per cent.
Self-employed persons such as actors and actresses, medical doctors, engineers, lawyers and other professionals are the main targets.
Revenue Department director-general Vinai Vittavasgarnvej said officials would audit the tax returns of these self-employed persons, as many have not yet paid taxes in full. …
