Developers plan mixed-use 'town center' in Hillsboro. (Oregon)

Trammell Crow Residential, Standard Insurance Co. and the Melvin Mark Companies plan to develop a town center in Hillsboro that would have nearly 1,500 apartments, an 18-acre retail district and 800,000 square feet of office space.

The developers are keen on the area near the Sunset Highway because of Hillsboro's master plan that would create a village center in the area, complete with a Wide boulevard, sidewalks and a focus on pedestrian access.

Ultimately, the desire is to create a village where people could easily travel on foot or on bike between their homes, of-rices and the retail center.
