Dandala highly respected by peers THE selection of Mvume Dandala by the Congress of the People (COPE) as its presidential candidate for the April elections invokes memories of the election of another Methodist bishop, Stanley Makgoba, to the leadership of an opposition party.
Whatever Makgoba's talents as a church leader, his skills as a political leader were minimal: he was voted out of office after the Pan Africanist Congress failed, in 1999, to improve on its dismal performance in the 1994 election.
