Feb. 28--NEWARK, N.J. -- Panthers defenseman Nick Boynton thought he was asking a simple, fair question. General Manager Jacques Martin and coach Pete DeBoer thought he crossed the line. Boynton was sent home Friday for "disciplinary reasons," Martin said, and will miss the final three games of this trip, including today's game against the Devils. He will be paid during the absences. Noah Welch, a healthy scratch the past 15 games, will replace him in the top six. Martin and DeBoer, who made the decision jointly, wouldn't provide any details, but Boynton said it was related to his benching for the third period of Thursday's 2-1 win against the …
