A tussle with an armed homeowner ended badly for a burglar in Fayetteville, North Carolina. On the evening of January 17, according to the Fayetteville Observer, the burglar was engaging in his craft in his hometown when the homeowner returned and a struggle ensued. The burglar was fatally wounded.

The homeowner, 54-year-old Jerry Riley, told police that he encountered a stranger when he got home around 7:00 p.m. The homeowner pulled out a pistol, and the two men fought for the gun. As the men clashed, Riley fired the gun repeatedly.
