A South Bend, Indiana, woman named Sandra was about to prepare dinner on December 30 when she heard the sound of someone moving outside.

"All of a sudden, I'm hearing fast footsteps around my yard, around my deck," she told WNDU Newscenter 16. She got a gun and called 911 just moments before the person outside crashed through her back patio door.

Whatever the intruder intended to do, he changed his mind almost immediately when she pointed her gun at him and said, "If you come any closer to me, I will shoot you to kill." He complied with her instructions to get down on the floor and keep his hands in plain sight at all times. Though the intruder, later identified as Cyrus Brown, was only 28 and Sandra was 70, he was scared and begged her not to shoot. Almost the entire incident was caught on the 911 operator's ...
