According to former National Security Agency (NSA) analyst Russell Tice, millions of Americans are being spied on. After President Bush's term of office expired, Tice, who worked for the NSA as an analyst for nearly 20 years, said in a two-part interview conducted by MSNBC that "NSA had access to all Americans' communications, faxes, phone calls, and their computer communications," regardless of their location or whether or not they made foreign communications.
After the Bush administration's warrantless electronic search program had been disclosed by the New York Times, administration officials repeatedly claimed that it was confined to foreign communications with suspected terrorists. Tice claims that it was much more extensive than that and that data mining was involved.
