The article in the December 8 issue, "Intelligent Design and Evolution," was interesting and certainly timely, but it really didn't shed any light on the controversy. Intelligent Design is a side issue used by some scientists, wise enough to know that life could not create itself, but afraid of mentioning God.
The article completely ignored the most important points, including the fact that almost no one clearly defines the words they use.
Evolution has a generic meaning that has changed over time. However, in living species it must be further defined. A minor change within a species, owing to the widely available combinations of genetic information from each parent, is defined as microevolution.
