Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez won a referendum, giving him the possibility of remaining in power forever. The voters abolished term limits. Chavez jubilantly declared that he would speed up "the construction of true socialism." (Would that be the socialism of North Korea? Nazi Germany? Castro's Cuba? Hoxha's Albania?)
