Hoegh Autoliners to launch Galveston-to-Mideast service.

Port income exceeds expectations

The Port of Galveston this month will become a load port for Hoegh Autoliners' U.S.-Middle East service calling at Abu Dhabi, Aqaba, Bahrain, Beirut, Dammam, Doha, Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Kuwait, Musqat, Iraq and Tripoli, depending on cargo requirements.

The service began importing a variety of rolling stock monthly into Galveston about 18 months ago. It will now call twice monthly and export construction equipment and other rolling stock, possibly including used vehicles, according to Capt. John Peterlin, senior director of marketing and administration.
