In the motocross world, 29-year-old Ricky Carmichael is called the GOAT, Greatest of All Time. Now, he is working on a stock-car career. He mixed motocross and stock cars in 2007, running at local tracks in Florida near his home under the tutelage of Mark Martin, then went stock-car racing full-time in 2008, running the NASCAR Camping World East Series for driver and team owner Ken Schrader. In 2009, he will run some ARCA races as he pursues a full season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Kevin Harvick.
AutoWeek: Your first race of the year will be the ARCA race at Daytona, and then you're planning to run the truck race. Is that the plan for the rest of the season?
Ricky Carmichael: I have to do the Daytona ARCA race in order to get signed off to do the truck race. Kevin has talked about doing a few more ARCA races at the bigger tracks; I'd do as many as he'll let me. That's what I've got to do, ...
