After 14 years with backing from Sears's Craftsman brand, NASCAR's truck series has a new sponsorCamping Worldand plenty of off-track concerns. Some examples: In late January, former champion Mike Skinner still did not have a competitive, full-season ride. Neither did former champions Ted Musgrave and Todd Bodine or three-time champion Jack Sprague. Four of the 25 races remained unsponsored.
But the news is not all bad. Defending champion Johnny Benson moves from closed-down Bill Davis Racing to run full-time Red Horse (not to be confused with Red Bull) Racing Toyotas. Teenager Colin Braun (the 2008 rookie of the year) will mount a strong, full-schedule effort in Fords from Roush Fen-way Racing. Johnny Sauter and Matt Crafton will drive Chevrolets for ThorSports, the series' only competitive, full-schedule, multitruck organization. Series veteran Rick Crawford returns in competitive, full-schedule Fords for owner Tom Mitchell, but former teammate Brendan Gaughan is gone to the Nationwide Series.
