AutoWeek: You had a very special weekend in Daytona, winning the Rolex 24 with Brumos Racing (see page 61). You're unemployed as an IndyCar Series driver. Does this win help your career?
BUDDY RICE: I think it helps my career, but at the end of the day, what it comes down to is that most of the IndyCar teams out there that have seats available need money. I don't have a major sponsor that I can bring.
AW: Why does it seem that so many veterans are struggling to find rides?
BR: A lot of the people from overseas are coming over [with some level of sponsorship] and getting 70 cents on the dollar. They're getting the rides.
AW: One of your possibilities is the merged effort of Rubicon Racing and Pacific Coast Motorsports. Is that a possibility?
BR: Yeah, but who knows? We'll have to see. Everybody's talking, and there are a lot of things going on. As everyone knows, it still takes a lot of money to fund an IndyCar team, let alone anything else.
AW: You're ...
