Byline: MICHAEL TAYLOR
A Chrysler-Fiat hookup will inject some top-notch global cars into the U.S. market. We won't get all of the goodies, but we don't necessarily want everything. Here's the rundown.
WHAT WE GET
Fiat Cinquecento: Enormous charm, an interior like no other and a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine.
Fiat Panda: A cheap, practical, five-door, Chrysler-badged mini-city car.
Alfa Romeo 149: Also called the C-evo, a hatchback to replace the mediocre 147, arriving mid-2010 in the States.
Alfa Romeo MiTo: Brisk, comfortable and fun, underpinned by Grande Punto Abarth (see page 26).
