Fernando Alonso says that Renault must target the championship in 2009, following two frustrating seasons, despite a disappointing first outing with Renault's new R29 in Portugal.

Alonso won titles with the team in "05 and "06, before his brief, acrimonious stint with McLaren-Mercedes. He returned to Renault last year and developed an underperforming and underpowered car into a two-race winner.
