Women's Inheritance Rights under Assyrian Law This paper examines the inheritance rights of women under Assyrian law during the first half of the second millennium B.C (2000-1500 B.C.). It begins by reviewing the inheritance rights of women and contextualizing those rights in relation with the social status of women in Old Assyrian society. By examining Kultepe texts the article demonstrates the ways in which the law was implemented. It will then be possible for us to see how common people fought with rising problems in the society.
