Van der Merwe proves a true master of the tiebreak IZAK van der Merwe waited all day to get on to the tennis court yesterday, but when he did, he made it count The lanky, up-and-coming Bolander, ranked just 286th on the ATP Tour, claimed a famous scalp when he beat German Benjamin Becker, ranked 123, 7-6 (7/4) 7-6 (7/3) in the first round of the ATP South African Open at Montecasino yesterday.

Becker's claim to fame is that he beat former world No 1 Andre Agassi of the US in four sets at the US Open in 2006. It was Agassi's last match before he retired.
