South Carolina ports chief Groseclose resigns.

Bernard S. Groseclose Jr., president and chief executive of the South Carolina State Ports Authority, submitted his resignation last month.

No reason was disclosed for Groseclose's departure, but it follows Maersk Line's December announcement that it plans to withdraw from the Port of Charleston by the end of 2010. The carrier is the port's biggest customer, and its seven weekly ship calls generate 20 percent of Charleston's volume.
