Intermodal marketer and truck broker Hub Group saw its profit shrink 21 percent in the fourth quarter to $14.2 million, as traffic and pricing weakened.

Although intermodal traffic on major railroad slid sharply in the period, Hub's strong market position saw it still bring in $430.5 million in revenue, down 3 percent. It said volume fell two percent while pricing slid 1 percent.

Intermodal is the single largest business segment for Hub, and revenue there also slid 3 percent, to $305 million. Its truck brokerage, though, saw sales fall 13 percent to nearly $83 million and logistics …
