Citizens National CEO Ken Mullis says he will to 'protect our customers from the bureaucracy of a larger corporation'

Ken Mullis has reached a turning point, both personally and professionally.

Since undergoing open-heart surgery last spring, he has adopted a more realistic perspective on life.

"I know I'm not immortal now," Mullis says. "I'm not bulletproof."

And the independent bank he has led since 1990, Citizens National Bank of Leesburg, is on the verge of becoming part of Huntington Bancshares Inc. of Columbus, Ohio, an institution with 335 offices in six states and assets of $20 billion.
