Pick Kwick weighs sale, merger.

Pick Kwik Corp., a Tampa-based convenience store chain and one of the largest privately held companies in the Bay Area, has hired an investment bank to look at possible growth strategies, including the sale of the business.

Pick Kwik operates 66 convenience stores on the west coast of Florida, from Citrus County to Naples. Sixty of those stores sell gas, as do most of the stores operated by the competition.

Pick Kwik, which employs about 700 people, reported revenues in 1996 of approximately $151 million, up from sales of $124 million in 1995.
