Jan. 21--At Superior High School, anterior cruciate ligament injuries and knee injuries as a whole have been unusually scarce in girls basketball. Before Britnee Blake tore her ACL this season, the Spartan girls basketball team had not suffered an ACL injury in recent memory.
Dan Schulz, head coach of the Spartans, can't explain why Superior girls have been able to avoid the knee injuries facing most other girls basketball programs. Perhaps the Spartans have just been lucky so far.
"We don't really do any specific preventative drills or warm-up other than our normal stretching," Schulz said. "But if it continues to be a concern, it's something I'd like to research further."
