Delray Beach priest charged with grand theft pleads guilty.

Jan. 21--Former priest John Skehan, pleaded guilty this morning to a single charge of grand theft over $100,000. But his successor plans to go to trial on identical charges. Skehan is scheduled to be sentenced March 20. In pleading guilty, Skehan gave short answers of "Yes your honor," to Circuit Judge Jeffrey Colbath. After the hearing Skehan sprinted to a staircase without answering questions to the media.

State Attorney's Office spokesman Michael Edmondson said the judge will determine Skehan's punishment. "He is effectively throwing himself at the mercy of the court" Edmondson said. An agreement reached with …
