So far, more than 750 crewmen lost jobs as a result of the poor economy. After being in the sport for 60 years, Petty Enterprises is expected to merge with Gillett Evernham Motorsports. After being around for 55 years, Wood Brothers Racing will now compete part-time. Team owner Bill Davis sold out to Marty Gaunt. Morgan-McClure Motorsports and BAM Racing shut down. Barney Visser's team went from full-time to part-time. Teresa Earnhardt merged her late husband's empire with Chip Ganassi's. Almost everyone needs sponsorship dollars that are not available.
Some Cup watchers fear less than full fields.
