A man with obsessive-compulsive disorder who repeatedly checks if faucets are turned off told artist Kohei Abiko that he wanted to express his neurosis on canvas.

"That sounds wonderful," Abiko said, giving the man a friendly pat on the back.

In his painting, the man depicted arms reaching toward a faucet.

According to Abiko, 72, this is a sign the man is facing up to his disorder, something that gives the art teacher great pleasure.

Abiko has taught drawing and painting to mental patients for 40 years. …
