After taking credentials from more than 20 agencies, Debenhams has now produced a manageable longlist of between six and eight for its pounds 15 million ad brief. Agencies have already been contacted about initial meetings that will take place on Thursday and Friday this week.
The Debenhams incumbent, Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy, resigned the account so that it could pitch on John Lewis, and is now down to the last two with Adam & Eve. The next round of meetings will take place at the end of January. It is anyone's guess whether MCBD's relationship with Waitrose will help, or hinder, its bid for success.
Following an aborted pitch last summer, 118 118 has turned to Oystercatchers to help find a digital agency. A pitch will be held towards the end of the month and a result is expected mid-February.
