PONTIAC MIGHT SKIP SPORT TRUCK
Pontiac officials are reconsidering whether to launch the 2010 G8 ST sport pickup in 2009 amid discussions that the General Motors division might become a one-car company in the next three years.
That one car, Automotive News reports, may be the front-wheel-drive 2010 G3 subcompact arriving next spring.
Susan Docherty, vice president of Buick-Pontiac-GMC, said that GM is unlikely to spend much money on product development for Pontiac in light of a recovery plan submitted to Congress indicating that GM will reduce the number of companywide nameplates from 48 to 40 by 2012.
BLUE TO YOU
Mercedes-Benz will reveal a trio of clean-running five-seat A- and B-class-based concept cars at the Detroit auto show, all called BlueZero.
The E-Cell version is a pure electric vehicle with a lithium-ion battery pack. It has a range of up to 124 miles.
