from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency KUANTAN, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- The less fortunate in Pahang received more than RM24 million in aid from various welfare schemes this year.

State Social Welfare Department Deputy Director Wan Zarina Wan Salleh said today the bulk of the aid went to the scheme for the elderly with 3,127 people receiving more than RM11 million.

"The Aid for the Elderly scheme provides RM300 a month to those aged 60 and above, who do not have a monthly income or property and live alone," she told Bernama here.

She said RM5.8 million was given out in aid for poor children, disabled employees allowance (RM4.7 million) and aid …
