Learners flock to career expo THE first Tourism Career Expo hosted by the environmental affairs and tourism department (DEAT) in partnership with the arts, culture and tourism department of KwaZulu-Natal (DACT-KZN) and the Tourism, Hospitality and Sports Education and Training Authority (Theta) surprised even the organisers as more than 17000 learners and educators attended.
The expo, held in Durban from October 14 to 16, promoted tourism as a viable career option for school leavers.
We held the expo because we wanted to profile tourism as a career of choice, said DEAT chief director Bulelwa Seti.
