Twelve strong months of real estate activity has pumped new blood into the lives of Bay Area developers.

With the exception of downtown San Francisco, construction cranes are a common sight once again. More than 3 million square feet of commercial real estate was developed in the Bay Area in 1995, up from just under 2.7 million square feet in 1994, according to the Business Times' List of the 15 largest commercial developers (see page 11A).

For the third year in a row, the Martin Group of Companies Inc. is the most active developer in the Bay Area, with just under 1.1 million square feet of commercial development in 1995, up from 840,600 square feet in 1994. The …
