LAST SUNDAY, February 9, was a triumphant day for San Diego book lovers. After much anxious waiting and concerted community effort, the San Diego Union-Tribune published its first eight-page Books section in two years. What's more, the section has gone weekly, a treat San Diego readers have not enjoyed since the Tribune and Union merged in 1992.
"It's a major commitment on the part of the paper to storm back with this section," says Sunday Books editor Arthur Salm.
