GENERAL SANTOS CITY - Violence marred anew the operations of a foreign-backed copper and gold mining project after unidentified gunmen ambushed Sunday night mine workers, police and company officials confirmed yesterday.

The third violent incident involving the Tampakan project of Sagittarius Mines, Inc. this year claimed one life and injured two other mine workers, officials said.

Sagittarius Mines is majority owned by Swiss miner Xstrata Copper and Indophil Resources NL as the junior partner.
