The SCCA Speed World Challenge motored along in 2008, with competitive fields filled with mostly familiar faces. One big reason: With the Speed network as title sponsor, a solid television package is in place.
In the GT class, Randy Pobst drove a K-Pax Racing Porsche to win his second-straight championship, his third in five years. Andy Pilgrim, in a Cadillac CTS-V, came into the final race with a mathematical shot at the championship but settled for second in points, with Brandon Davis third. Pobst won three races; Pilgrim did not win any but was on the podium for eight of the 10 events. Davis won twice, including the season finale in his Ford Mustang Cobra. The hottest driver was veteran Tommy Archer, who ran only six races in his Viper but won three of them.
