Byline: BOB GRITZINGER
Wayne Cherry hasn't been sitting still since he retired from General Motors in 2003. In the past year, he's put together the car that he didn't get to build when he was head of GM design: the VSR.
"As a designer, I wanted to do a sports-car kind of hot rod but something contemporary, explained Cherry. "I wanted to create a new aesthetic for a sports-car-cum-rod.
Drawing on Bonneville and Indy hot-rod designs, the car's exterior suggests the powertrain under the sheetmetal, a Cadillac V-series 6.0-liter, 400-hp V8. That explains the "V in the car's name, while the "SR stands for Sports Rod.
