China antipiracy move leaves Japan all at sea

The government is reportedly extremely frustrated following China's announcement that it plans to dispatch naval ships to the seas off Somalia to back U.N.-led efforts to fight piracy.

So far, more than 10 countries, including Britain, France and the United States, are participating in the antipiracy operations.

The United States is set to cooperate with China as part of the operations, such as by sharing necessary information. If Japan fails to come up with ideas for contributing to the operations before U.S. President-elect Barack Obama takes office in January it will fall behind China …
