Hispanics favored Obama over McCain by 67 to 31 percent. As a disproportionately low-income group that values social services, they start out leaning toward the Democrats. They favored them more in this election for the same reasons that most groups did. The perception that Republicans are hostile to immigrants doubtless increased these tendencies still further, but must have played a relatively minor role.
